We as a group have agreed that Information Technology on a social and ethical scale brings more bad effects then good.First of all it is the invasion of privacy. Millions of people around the globe key in personal details of their life into the world wide web everyday, without thinking of its consequences. In fact, our information carries value.Telemarketers can hack into various accounts, checking your bank balabnce and targetting you as a potential buyer. Then they proceed to badger and harress you to buy their prouducts. This is an example of mthings they can do to you. In fact they coild do worst things like perhaps steal your identity. Have you ever considered that a person , any person could hack into your e- mail account and read all your mail?Hackers arev able to hack into bank accounts or important files just to make money.Another negative activity widely done over the internet is the “pop up” icons. What are these pop up icons? Mostly advertisements and pornography websites. Since there is no age barrier towards th eusage of the net the ones who are easily influenced are pre-teens that is childrens within the age of 11- 15 years old.As we all know “ curiosity kills the cat” you can never tell that children will ignore colourfull and attractive advertisements. All these negetive effects just in one click.Such vulgarism and unethical behavior exposed to the chilren nowdays.All these is what leeds to social problem like teen- protitution and rape among teens.There is no moral values and these advertisements on the wibe makes one irratated, when you concentrating and keeping your eye like hawk on the work you are doing suddently out of the blues something just pop's up and distracts you. This is just so annoying.Illegal downloading also plays its own roles in the concern of IT.By downloading illegal movies, songs, games and more. It gives a very bad respons to the people who invented it. For an example, the flimdom industries. If everyone just just downloads song and movies, the producers and music directors don't earn the modal and the money they deserve from their hardwork.If downloading illegally from the net goes on further. In future , the chance to get quality movies would no longer exist.Nowadays, talking about bad impact of the IT would mostly root to the facts of copyright and infrigment which happens almost all part of the world. People tend to copyright music , articles, books which has been composed and published by illegal companies or co-opperations.They make use of this pathway to earn their money by selling copyrighted document illegally. Due to this scenario, the legal/origanal oweners lose their rights, business and have to face a lot of consequences toward their own poperties.As a conclusion, it could be said that IT on the whole bring a lot of negative influence and effects towards the current society

Uses and implications of instant messaging.

I choose instant messaging as my topic. Instant messaging,(IM), is a service that enables a user to create a private chat room with another individual and communicate in real time over the Internet. It's similar to a telephone conversation but is text-based. There are many uses and implications of IM.

Let me talk about the uses first.Instant messaging can bring people closer together without costing a dime. People communicate through instant messaging through typing messages to each other in real-time. Some instant messaging programs allow you to view the status whether they're online or not of all the people on your contacts list. Webcams and microphones can be put to use for visual and audio enhancement.Video conferencing, and phone calls can also be made through instant messaging technology.On the other hand, IM in the workplace offers several conveniences. It allows for easy communication between employees and reduces time spent on the phone, fax, and e-mail. Since IM is immediate, employees can get what they need quickly and proceed with their day. For management, IM can be an easy way to communicate and monitor staff to see who is available and online and who is away from their desk. IM can provide easy, real-time access to remote staff.

Now we move to implications of IM. With instant messenger you can share files with other users, but you need to be careful of what you are downloading. If friends and family members send you files at work you are probably better off not opening them. The good news about this is you can set up your anti-virus program to scan these files before you open them, which greatly reduces the risk of infection.Information exchanged over the public IM can leak to anyone globally. Every user can send a file in seconds to another user all over the world. Unencrypted data sent over the Internet can be intercepted and read by third parties. Any user can contact you or your colleagues . Generally this is not bad, but such unauthorized contacts decrease people productivity, because they are distracted and spend time in non-business communication.

Media Player

Most important source of entertainment in my laptop is media player.I have a lot of songs and videos.I listen to tamil, english and malay songs. Everyone have their one way to organize their songs. For me , I categorized all the songs based on its albums. I founds it more easier in this way because i can straight away acsses to all the from that particular albums.Furthermore, I have a separates folder which i saved in my favourite songs.I have quite alot of videos too. For videos , i categorized them under different folders according to the events.Example My Birthday, My College Prom Nite, My Family Occasions.This is my own way of organizing media player.

What i will miss the most if there is no Information Technology?

I would miss internet most if there is no Information technology.Internet is changing human society, just as railways, cars and telephones changed it in eras gone by. It's also changing it very quickly.

One of the main internet services is in the form of communication. Email services let me send messages to anyone who has an Internet connection and e-mail address. It's faster, easier and cheaper than using the telephone.Without internet, it is difficult to communicate with my faraway friends around the world. Other than that, internet sets us a pathways to make friends through Friendster, Orkut which i miss the most.

I miss internet because internet is widely integrated into my academic life. The Web is like a huge encyclopedia of information, for every topic that I have ever wondered about. Without the web I might otherwise have to pay for or find out by less convenient way.Information that I get on the Web is amazing and help me to do researches and projects. Furthermore, I cant updates myself with political and socials news that happening around the world without the help of internet.

There are so many different forms of entertainment on the Internet such as music, video, movies and alot more. This service give me the opportunity to watch movies online, listen songs and even downloads them. Without internet i cant update myself with upcuming songs and movies. Internet provide a chance to chat and have a teleconference with the peoples from all parts of the world.

Internet also provides online shopping , where I can purchase things from my home itself. If not, i have to sacrifice my time to go finding for the stuffs. I can also odered book from book stores through online for cheaper price.

All the above point shows how important internet is for human life. This is why i miss internet the most.
